Welcome to Lakeland Psychological Services
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy, often called psychotherapy or counselling, is a collaborative process between a client and a trained professional. In a confidential, one-on-one setting, you are provided with a safe and supportive environment to explore your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and experiences. The primary goal is to help you set and achieve personal goals, overcome challenges, and improve your overall well-being. Through various therapeutic approaches, counselling facilitates self-understanding, encourages the development of new coping strategies, and empowers you to make positive changes in your life.
Counselling Intern
At Lakeland Psychological Services, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of mental health professionals and upholding our standards of excellence in therapy services. Counselling Interns benefit from the guidance and support of our Clinical Director, Genevieve Milliken. Through regular supervision and participation in training sessions and case consultation meetings, our interns receive valuable hands-on experience and mentorship to enhance their skills and knowledge. This structured approach ensures that our interns are well-prepared to provide high-quality care and support to our clients, while also fostering their professional growth and development. Appointments with a Counselling Intern will be available September to April for ages 7+.
Art Therapy
Art therapy combines the creative process and psychotherapy, facilitating self-exploration and understanding. Using imagery, colour and shape as part of this creative therapeutic process, thoughts and feelings can be expressed that would otherwise be difficult to articulate. Neurofeedback
NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback is a sophisticated Brain Training tool designed to help optimize your life. It was developed by Clinical Psychologists, Dr.’s Valdeane & Susan Brown. The NeurOptimal® system measures the differences in the electrical signal emitted from the scalp. This electrical signal is mathematically measured 256 times per second, by voltage changes and is read through the NeurOptimal® software program which initiates an interruption in the audio/video stream as it detects when a change is about to happen. This small interruption is enough to warrant the individual to notice.
Combining the exclusive Dynamical Neurofeedback® brain electrical signal measuring with captivating audiovisuals, Training with NeurOptimal® allows an individual to observe their brain activity and optimize their mindset. It is a unique tool for catalyzing personal transformation.
